Why Byron Bay Properties Need Professional Tree Removal

Seven years removing trees across Byron Bay. We know this landscape because we work in it every day.

Byron Bay’s coastal conditions create tree management challenges you will not find anywhere else in NSW. Salt-laden winds from the Pacific accelerate decay in coastal tree species. The wet season brings storms that bring down trees without warning. Subtropical growth rates mean trees on Byron Bay properties grow faster and larger than owners expect and fast-growing species like Cocos Palm and Camphor Laurel can become a structural risk within a single season.

Caters Tree Care has been carrying out tree removal in Byron Bay since 2017. We are a local family-owned business not a franchise or out-of-town contractor. Every tree removal in Byron Bay is assessed and carried out by our own qualified arborists. When you call us, you speak directly to the person doing the job not an office manager booking a subcontractor.

Byron Shire Council Tree Removal Permits

Most trees in Byron Bay require council approval before removal. We handle the paperwork so you don't have to.

Byron Shire Council regulates tree removal under its Tree Management Policy. Before removing any tree on a Byron Bay property you may need development consent depending on the tree species, size, and location. Trees with a trunk circumference greater than 50cm measured at 1 metre above ground generally require a permit. Native species including Bangalow Palms, Tuckeroo, and Brush Box are specifically protected under Byron Shire vegetation mapping removal without consent can result in significant fines.
As qualified byron bay arborists we assess your tree, confirm whether a permit is required, and prepare all supporting documentation for your Byron Shire Council application. We have been navigating the Byron Shire permit process since 2017 and understand exactly what council requires to approve a removal quickly and without delays.

Max and team have done several jobs for us over the past 2 years and I couldn't recommend him highly enough. He dropped an extremely high pine tree threatening the house without any problems and trimmed overgrown and sad looking trees to bring them back to health. He has excellent relations with Councils and it's very clear that environmental responsibility is key to how he works. I should also mention that he and his great team clean up incredibly well afterwards and take particular care of gardens and lawns when working.

Caters tree care removed a tree in our backyard and left the place cleaner than when he arrived. He sent us a courtesy text the day before the job, arrived on time, kept the noise to a minimum (great for our wildlife corridor) and was very conscientious about our neighbours who run a massage business and was able to finish the job in between their clients. Highly recommend caters trees and they will be fulfilling our tree work needs in the future.
